Now Look!
Time for Timer. What, you dropped the ball? When your little voice head has to scream at you, pay attention to what to do instead. I have a childhood voice stuck in my head from an after-school cartoon character called Timer. He had a long run of episodes with rhyming songs. I incorporated the character and his rhymes into my self-awareness system. For example, I can't leave my doors unlocked because I live in Hollywood. So my song goes like this: "Now look, you live in Hollywood and life is really rough, better keep your door locked or people will steal your stuff." As I have been working on building new systems and checks to keep me on track the addition of Timer rhymes has been a useful tool. Childish I know but we should accept the truth from where ever we hear it. I am partial to hearing it from rhymes. Working independently, or from home, one can use all the queues one can make to replace the normal workday/week guideposts provided by a normal job. I think I picked this up when I was working in the grocery industry. Every week there would be a new schedule so I had to be ready to change my plans around from week to week.
What am I reading?
I have been reading an anthology of short stories that are spell-binding. J.G. Ballard The Complete Short Stories. I got on the treadmill and lost track of time listening to a couple of stories. They are original and captivating. I do notice some of the stories from their use in television and movies. Many more cover themes of time travel and far-flung future events.
