Ludicrusly Detailed Instructions
I read a book synopsis about Flow State. A desirable state of mind where I can get things done. I am a sucker for productivity and structure, so I ate this up. My takeaway was a short discussion of beating procrastination I want to share without going into detail.
To start flow state or break procrastination I need to break down my tasks into ludicrously absurd simple steps. Checking them off one after the other is how I get things done. Small steps are the traction I need to defeat procrastination.
What am I reading this week?
First, a bit of background. I am using the Los Angeles library digital collection thru the Libby app on my phone to access books this summer. It took only moments to set up with my library card before I was browsing the available audio books. I tried some of the e-books, but my eyesight is hobbled enough that I don’t enjoy trying to read that way anymore. I had to queue up for most of the books I wanted last month. The popular ones are 8 weeks out. The app tells you how many copies they must loan and how many people are waiting. Based on that information the app will let you know how long you should expect to wait. I give the app a high score.

Aware | Daniel J Siegel MD
I have been interested in contemplative neuroscience since the 1980s. This book is clear that we don’t know for sure how the brain works yet. We do grasp that it is more than the sum of its parts. That is a wonder I want to explore in myself.
Dr. Siegel is scientifically rigorous in sighting his resources. He also shares his students’ experiences with the meditation practices he explores. He draws insight from physics, neuroscience, and human experience to describe a vast spacious awareness to be experienced thru meditation. I geeked out the book is detailed like I like.
My big take away.
We just don’t know anything for sure. However, Buddhism is really good at helping us grasp what we learn from science. Really small relationships in physics have different rules than big systems in science.
My cake batter brained entanglement take away.
The emptiness is not empty. It’s full of potentiality. Limitless suspended potentiality, waiting to become entangled among relationships near and far in time and space.
