I am finding brilliance in the smallest available package.
I was walking the dog and noticed an unkept strip of ground, primarily weeds, but there was the tiniest flower popping out against the background of dirt and mundane weeds. It made me consider that it does not take a significant output to create a stunning impression. The tiniest thing or action, well-executed, can hugely positively affect the backdrop of ordinary life.
Whatever is available to me will fill my day. It's crazy how much I can get done the day before I leave for a long weekend or a day at the beach. I wish I could pull off that kind of task completion daily. But, more likely, I find myself entirely occupied with a single mundane task or research project that fills the better part of my day with no solution. It's like wrestling with an octopus.
In an hour, I can change my whole days' telemetry. I have learned to use timers on my phone to chime every hour to remind me to move on to something new. Even if I have made no progress on the task at hand, I know I am better off setting it aside and going on to something new. "Every hour a new day" | Gretchen Rubin. I find that this change sets me up with a unique opportunity for a win. I like to review my day and see I had at least a few wins to check off. The items I failed at probably would not have been solved had I spent any more time on them than what had been allocated.
I am reading:
We watch so much content; luckily, one of our favorite shows comes with a suggested reading list. You may like Blunt Talk with Walter Blunt as played by Patrick Stewart. Walter Blunt gets books to read to him by his manservant. So I picked up some of the books mentioned in the show.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I finally understand the length of the journey is 20,000 leagues rather than the depth of the dive. I liked it better than the Disney movie of my childhood. The story more than makes up for its' ending, which was a bit lacking in details, abrupt. I have not started reading a second book, But I know it's a spin on King Author, The Once and Future King.
